Sorry for the lack of update, been having problem with the server, anyway, Linkin Park have confirmed their summer date at the will play at the 2012 Rock Am Ring festival in Nürburg, Germany in June, read message from Chester below.

We’re excited to hit the road again this summer. Our first announced tour date of 2012 is Rock am Ring in Nürburg, Germany this June. It will be our first time playing the festival in 5 years, and we’re glad to be back.
Keep checking back for more announcements. This is just the first of many.

Chester and DBS at 2nd Annual Stars of the Season

AZ Central has a report and photos of Chester playing an intimate acoustic set with Dead By Sunrise at the 2nd Annual Stars of the Season at Montelucia Resort & Spa last Saturday. The setlist includes “Crawl Back In”, “Let Down”, “I’ll Try Not to Destroy You”, “Palm Spring Reset” and “Messenger.”

Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington headlined the second annual Stars of the Season, which drew a packed house of 520 to the beautiful Montelucia Resort & Spa on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The evening was dedicated to raising funds for Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa. The proceeds will help expand and enhance services offered in the pediatric rehabilitation center.

Attendees were treated to a silent auction featuring a vast array of items including everything from sporting tickets to a day of golf with local music Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper.

After a delicious dinner, a touching video presentation spotlighted three children who are patients at the Mesa facility. The stories of these brave children helped make the live auction a huge success and raise thousands of dollars.
The final live auction item was an autographed guitar from Linkin Park that would eventually sell for $10,000. The prize was in such high demand that lead singer Chester Bennington decided to auction off two additional Linkin Park guitars and raised $30,000.

After the auction, Bennington played an intimate acoustic set with Dead By Sunrise on the ballroom stage. The 40-minute, eight-song set put the focus on material by the singer’s side band, including “Crawl Back In” and “Let Down.” Dead By Sunrise also features Julien-K singer Ryan Schuck, who sang the Julien-K songs “I’ll Try Not to Destroy You” and “Palm Spring Reset.” They also played one Linkin Park track, “Messenger.”

When the set was over, Bennington took time to speak to the children in attendance and take photos with excited fans. It was wonderful to see Bennington’s commitment to the community and the children. He truly is a class act.

Linkin Park accept Global Leadership award

Linkin Park accept a Global Leadership Award at the UN Foundation and UN Association of the USA Global Leadership Awards Dinner. The band was honored for using their voices to highlight the importance of the United Nations and for mobilizing their fans to help those in need. In accepting the award, Mike highlighted their work through non-profit MusicForRelief.org, and their newly announced support, PowerTheWorld.org of the UN Secretary-General’s Sustainable Energy For All initiative aimed at ensuring universal energy access by 2030.

Linkin Park is teaming up with the UN to bring clean energy to Haitian families. They joined Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at a Tuesday news conference announcing their involvement in an initiative to replace dirty energy sources like kerosene, charcoal and wood with solar and other clean, sustainable power. Today the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon announced his plan to enact a new “Sustainable Energy for All Initiative” at the UN Headquarters. The proposal naturally included the two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park. (Yes, that’s right. Linkin Park)

A cynical eye might dismiss the group’s philanthropy as another jump onto the “celebrities save Haiti” bandwagon. However, the band’s foundation, Music for Relief, has had its hand in a vast array of humanitarian efforts since its formation in 2004. (We suppose we can set aside any notions of the band capitalizing on altruism for notoriety.) After all do you even know what any of these guys look like? The band has sold over 50 million records, but largely remain out of the public eye.

The U.N. Foundation will handle the grunt work of implementing the sustainable energy programs, with a focus in Haiti where 10 million have no access to electricity.

Linkin Park and The Secretary-General have partnered before, believe it or not, hosting a live Facebook Townhall meeting regarding disaster relief. “Most recently we collaborated in our efforts to help in the disaster relief initiatives in Haiti,” guitarist Rob Bourdon told The Observer. “Our fans helped to get these solar lamps, which our bass player Phoenix got to see; he went to Haiti and saw those camps down there.”

Though new to the subject of energy sustainability, drummer Rob Bourdon admitted to The Observer he was unaware 1.4 billion people worldwide don’t have access to electricity, the band is conscious of what it can do.

“I think we have the unique ability to bring our fans, people in the music community, and fans of other bands to help with natural disasters and global warming,” said Mr. Bourdon. “When the UN posted video footage of Haiti it had 6,000 views. When we posted the footage and added our music it got 9.5 million.” Mr. Bourdon is referring to Linkin Park’s “Not Alone” video, which uses the U.N.’s graphic imagery of the Haiti earthquake aftermath.

The Secretary-General’s plan is to ensure universal access to modern energy services, double the rate of energy efficiency and double the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.

Linkin Park won MTV EMA, nominated for People’s Choice Award
