According to LPU Headquarters, the LP/Jay_z mash-up will debut on MTV on Novermber 10th at 10:30 pm, not the 6th as previously reported. Here's the official annoucement.

Linkin Park is proud to announce Jay-Z / Linkin Park: Collision Course, a new two disc CD/DVD to be released on November 30th.

Back on July 18, 2004 Jay-Z and Linkin Park got together at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood to do a combined performance in front of a select group of Linkin Park fans, most of which were LP Underground members such as yourself, and Jay-Z fans. Linkin Park and Jay-Z got on stage together and performed a series of songs "mashed" together where Linkin Park lyrics were laced over Jay-Z's beats and vice versa. Mash-ups included Numb/Encore, Izzo/In the End, Dirt off Your Shoulder/Lying from You, and many more.

The Collision Course DVD contains the Roxy performance plus a behind-the-scene s look at the creative process of the collaboration, from their first introductions to recording to performance. The CD features studio recordings of the same song combinations that were preformed live that night.

Also included is the broadcast version of MTV ULTIMATE MASH-UPS, which is set to premiere on MTV on November 10, 2004 at 10:30 PM (eastern & pacific).

Three new books, by the members of Metallica, Linkin Park and Wilco, offer fans a behind-the-scenes peek into the highs and lows of rock & roll stardom, anecdotes about life on the road and firsthand insight into the bands' inspirations.

Linkin Park's From the Inside (out in November), with a foreword by Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke, offers a primarily photo-driven perspective of a band on the road. After the release of Meteora in March 2003, photographer Greg Watermann was hired to document Linkin Park's eighteen-month world tour, capturing images ranging from rabid fans to the group's tour-ending performance at Atlanta's Philips Arena, where they were joined onstage by a gang of male strippers clad in bondage gear. "Anytime Greg's been around us, seeing us on tour and hanging out, he's really captured our personalities," says singer Chester Bennington. "[The book] might be looked at by some people as stupid, but it also might be looked at as risky, different and cool. That's our vision for everything we do."

Hi Jas,

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to go to an advance taster of LP's new DVD "Collision Course."

It's just amazing. Just when you think LP can't get any better, they do. The guy showing us the DVD was Rob McDermott (LP's manager) and he is the nicest guy. He looks like he really loves his job and has huge respect for the band.

The show came about from MTV. They called up Jay-Z and asked him who he wanted to work with and he said LP. They contacted LP's management who went to the band who said yes. It was all a bit crazy because they were due to start PR in 3 weeks and were rehearsing for it. Mike got hold of the Black Album, took and worked out how it was going to sound, then it went to Jay Z and he did some bits. 3 days before the live performance they went into the studio, recorded the songs and rehearsed and what we see on the DVD is basically the 3rd run through

We watched 3 songs and they will all be on MTV mid November. The DVD looks and sounds great. Also has a CD with Chester being diva like and demanding his frappuccino. The DVD is out at the end of November.

We found out some stuff, LP's new album will probably be out late next year or early 2006, there is a Frat Party thing coming out next summer, its unlikely they will not be playing at any festivals or PR next year, and yes, Joe is doing King Rat but it's not going to happen for a while. Mark Fiore is currently working on the LPU 4.0 CD.

I was watching E! news live earlier (like at 7) and they had this thing on how Linkin park (with other people, but they mostly focused on LP) helped biuld a house. It must have been for charity. They had Rob hammering, and he was saying how hamering is like drumming, Phoenix doing something that I'm not sure what it was, Brad glueing stuff together, and all of them together with Mike talking. I didn't see Joe or Chester though, they may have been there and I just missed them. I thought that was kinda cool and very nice of LP to do.

LPU member xerotheory7803 was at the viewing/listening party of Linkin Park and Jay-Z upcoming new CD in New York yesterday and he posted this message at the LPUMB. The CD/DVD is scheduled for release on November 30, read previous report from the LA Times.

I was in NYC today and I was able to go to Warner Bros. records in Rockefeller Center and check out some new LP material, and it was a pretty cool experience, just figured I'd let u guys know what went down..well there were only like 7 people there in total, Jessica was there as well..it was basically a viewing/listening party...as far as video clips, we saw LP and Jay-Z do Numb/Encore, Dirt Off Ya Shoulders/Lying From You, and LP alone did It's Goin Down, that was all from the show at the Roxy in California, back in July, for MTV, and then they let us listen to studio recorded versions of Numb/Encore, Dirt Off Ya Shoulders/Lying From You, and In The End/IZZO(H.O.V.A)..it was pretty amazing, can't wait for the actual album(fingers crossed) to come out or at least for the MTV special to come on.

Alright people I will stop taking any new request for the 2004 RaR video because I have something else to share. I have just a few people left on the waiting list, those who received broken links, don't worry I'll send a new link asap. I will start taking request for this show again when I'm ready. I will probably able to clear the list in the next couple of days and then I will put a new video up for download. Actually it's old but it's one of those difficult to find. It's the making of One Step Closer, well it's not exactly making of thing but rather an interview with the guys on the set of One Step Closer. The video is not in sync with the audio so I'm gonna see if I can fix it first, if not I'll just post it the way it is. I also have some other old stuff coming in so watch for it. Again I have to thank Jayson and Sanni for their help, not forgetting KadlyLP, Betty, Taylor, Sergs, AZ, Vanesha and those who sent me the links directly, thanks guys! you've helped alot! IT chair: lawsuits won't solve RIAA problems

An article on the Appalachian Online about the problems with online file sharing that mentions Linkin Park

Also changing is the way artists distribute themselves. Instead of going through a record label to reach their fan base, musicians and groups are distributing MP3's of their music over the Internet. This strategy has helped make bands such as Linkin Park so popular, Amoroso said. The band put their works online before their first album, "Hybrid Theory," hit stores. "Almost the whole thing went platinum immediately," Amoroso said. "A lot of bands follow that now." The industry risks becoming irrelevant if it does not realize that file sharing won't go away, Amoroso said. "As long as the digitization of music is high quality, then this is here to stay," he said.

Other contenders for top tour are Prince's Musicology and Shania Twain's Up. Among other finalists, Josh Groban, Linkin Park and John Mayer are up for top breakthrough act; Artists Group International, Creative Artists Agency and William Morris Agency are contenders for top agent/agency; and Clear Channel Entertainment, AEG Live and House of Blues Concerts are up for top promoter.

It looks like everyone has gotten files 11-17, I'm not getting as many request these days so that's good. I have to thank Jayson, Maya, Sanni, Nagawa, Eric, Martin, AZ, Nausikaa, Gen, Stefan, Taylor, Lizziez, doo scooby, Belle, Tina, Tamz, decster, Alex, Pernille, Megan, Pajousky, Kyle, Betty, Zielony, Gloria, Ryan and all those who've sent me the links directly from yousendit, thanks for your help, I really, really appreciate it.

Now, the bad news, it doesn't look like videos 1-10 are gonna be up for download at Linkin-Park.ru anytime soon so I will start sending the files to those on the waiting list. If you have emailed me before, please DO NOT email me again, I already have your email address on the list, you will get your file when it's your turn and I have to say it's gonna be awhile because I need to upload all the files again. MTV.com reports: Alternative rock station Live 105 in San Francisco has added a "mash-up" category to its playlist. Linkin Park has been nominated for Best Rock award in the 2004 MTV Europe Music Award. They are up against The Darkness, Good Charlotte, Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The show will be held at Tor Di Valle, Rome and broadcast live on MTV Europe on November 18. You can vote again and again for Linkin Park here

Krissy reports that Linkin Park has been nominated for 3 Radio Music awards, Artist of the Year (Rock Radio), Artist of the Year (Alternative Radio) and Song of the Year (Rock Alternative Radio) for 'Faint' and 'Numb'. The show, hosted by Carson Daly, will be shown live from Las Vegas on NBC on October 25 at 9 pm.

Bruno from linkinpark.com.br writes in to say that Linkin Park has won the Best International Video for 'Numb' at the 2004 MTV Video Music Brazil Award. It's three in a row now, they've won twice before in the same category in 2003 for 'Somewhere I Belong' and in 2002 for 'In The End'. Congratulations guys!

Potent matchup in a mash-up

LPU member Sumisetter has typed up and posted on the LPUMB an article in LA Times about the Linkin Park and Jay-Z's mash-ups, which also states that the collaboration will be released in a CD which also includes a DVD documentary about the project. The package is set to be released on November 30

First of all an update on the RaR video download situation, Linkin-Park.ru will have videos 1-10 up on their site again for download soon. Vetal is moving the files to another FTP server that is capable to handle the heavy traffic, so they will be up again for download soon therefore for those who have asked for those vidoes or have received broken links for those videos, I will not send them to you. Please have some patience and wait. Those asking for videos 11-17, I will send them to you as soon as I can. Please use the email links below to email me if you have problem downloading the videos.
