RaR Video Download Update
posted by Jas, 09/29/04
You know, Linkin Park have said many times in their interview that they have the best fans in the world and it's TRUE! When I started to take in request for the Rock Am Ring video, I received almost 400 emails asking for the links to download the videos, with the help from Maya and Jayson we managed to send the links to about 150 people. During this time it was getting harder and harder to upload the files again and again so I asked for help from people who have received all the files to help with the uploading process and I am deeply touched by your response. With your help the list has shrunk from 300 people to now 98. You guys are awesome!! keep uploading whenever you can, don't stop till I say so :-) Thank you Sanni, Nagawa, Eric, Martin, AZ, Nausikaa, Gen, Stefan, Taylor, Lizziez, doo scooby, Belle, Tina, Tamz, decster, Alex, Pernille, Megan, Pajousky, Kyle and all those who've sent me the links directly from yousendit. I really, really appreciate your help, I am your slave for life :-) Also thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding.
I may have made mistakes while sending out the files (hey I'm only human :-) so if any of you have problems downloading the files or receive a broken link please email me and I'll send the files again. Please be specific when you email me about your problem, state which video you can't download and include the broken link if you can. Also while sending out the files, we receive several bounced emails due to some reason so we won't send the files again to those people, if you are one of them you have to email me again and I'll put you back on the list. Please make sure your email address is valid or that your mailbox is not full before you email me.
To the new visitors and those asking for the older files from the Media Page, I apologies for the late response 'coz I was busy with the RaR files, I will send the files that you asked for later today, I promise.

Linkin Park has no talent
posted by Jas, 09/28/04
This writer thinks Linkin Park has no talent, whatsoever! I say we spam him :-), who's with me?
Fredericksburg.com reports: Unjustified fame is not just found in the pop arena, either. Linkin Park seems to be an example of a bunch of guys from school who said, "Hey! I can yell into a mic much better than that rock star. Maybe I can do that as a career, too!" And so they did. They got guys who can bang on the drums and play different sound waves on an electric guitar that could shatter a cow's skull if it got close enough. This is the way modern music is going. And while groups of little or no talent have found success for many years, it can be argued that the trend is worse than ever. Music has gone from great to downright horrible.

Whoa! I burn all the videos into VCD and watch it on TV, I can almost feel the crowd, wish I was there! this is how a live concert should sound, raw and unpolished. The band were at their best, they were flawless, this is the best live concert by Linkin Park I've ever seen and in my opinion definitely their best performance.
Okay enough ass kissing LOL!! I managed to upload the files, Jayson, Maya and I will try our best to send you the files as soon as possible (God help us). I will send the first 6 songs from the set list, Maya will send the next 5 and Jayson will send the rest. As these files are in mpg and big, it may take awhile for us to upload them again and again so please understand and have patience and wait for your turn, we're only humans, we're not machines. Please email me your email address just once, DO NOT send me multiple emails asking for it, those who keep asking will be ignored. Click here to send me your email address, please type it in the body of an email. I will post some screencaps tomorrow while you wait for the videos.
Note: now that we have the high quality videos from the RaR show, I've taken down videos from MTV Backstage Pass, the rm file of the live Breaking the Habit video from RaR, the recent Step Up Medley video and the full RaR concert that were ripped from webcast, both the video and the mp3, so these files are no longer available for download.

Linkin Park continues a great tradition at Hyundai Pavilion
For a few years now, naysayers have been proclaiming the demise of the rap-rock phenomenon in popular music. But last Saturday, more than 30,000 fans at Hyundai Pavilion at Glen Helen loudly proclaimed their desire to say nay to the naysayers, pointing proudly to one of the top bands in the world -- Linkin Park. The band didn't disappoint them, delivering a powerful set to conclude an entertaining day on the Projekt Revolution Tour.
Rock and rap are two great genres of music, so it is only natural that a melding of the two would result in some great sounds. Run-DMC deserves much acclaim for its pioneer work in this field in the early 1980s, and terrific groups such as Public Enemy, Rage Against the Machine, and P.O.D. are among many who have contributed greatly over the years. And now, the relatively young upstarts who comprise Linkin Park are mightily carrying on that tradition with their own unique style.
Having sold 7 million copies of their debut album "Hybrid Theory" and 4 million more of the follow-up, "Meteora," they have certainly latched on to a winning formula. Lyrically, that formula derives from a "Triple A" attack based on anger, anxiety, and alienation. Significantly, however, vocalists Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington (pictured above) have refrained from using any profanity on their CDs. Their goal is not to inflame their listeners; it is to share a cathartic experience, helping them endure life's basic frustrations while providing glimpses of hope that they can find "somewhere I belong."
With blistering accompaniment from Brad Delson (guitars), Rob Bourdon (drums), Phoenix (bass), and Joseph Hahn (sampling), Shinoda and Bennington accomplished their desired mission at the Devore amphitheater. With the crowd singing and shouting along, the band tore through such hits as "Crawling," "Numb," and the superb anthem which first landed LP on the charts, "One Step Closer."

PR concert review
Projekt Revolution concert: Sunday night Shoreline looked like the good old days of 2000. The place was almost full with a mostly younger audience for a show that featured the rock, rap and rap-rock of Korn, Snoop Dogg and Linkin Park. Each act could have headlined this show. Forget those who said Lollapalooza failed because its diversity of acts was too much for fans. Here were three very different performers who kept the place on its feet.
The far more commercial Linkin Park, which had the top-selling album of 2001, had a mix of singing and rapping that seemed as sophisticated as Beethoven in contrast to the opening acts. Although the band lacked the charisma of Snoop or Davis, it still scored with the crowd.

Projekt Revolution mixes music genres
All summer they've been following Korn and deserve credit for the challenge. But it's a serious comedown in concert, even if one believes Linkin Park's records are better. They certainly vary more in style. And it helps that Linkin Park's songs are built for the stage -- thoughtful and chilly melodies they usually ratchet up with aggression and volume by the chorus. It forces them to attack the material live (evidenced well on "Runaway" and set highlight "One Step Closer").
But like the evolution of its records since the band broke in 2000, the approach and the sound itself gets tiresome. Linkin Park was like a dark beer compared to the flaming shot of bourbon that is Korn. It's not about competition, but the impression remained to work against the headliner.
Nevertheless, it was their crowd to lose, and for the most part they did OK, ranging from surprisingly straight and chunky new material to "Step-Up," a pre-fame song meant to reel in the crowd with shout-out participation. It worked. Shouting over loud guitars during the summer is something that rock fans generally can't resist. Even when there's supposed to be a concert downturn.

Chester: We always wanted to play for our really dedicated Brazilian fans. It's an honor for us to play a show for the first time in Brazil and have so many people waiting to see us.
Rob: I think the music is appealing to so many people because we mix different styles and create a new sound that nobody has made before.
Question: What's your secret in maintaining that voice? to scream night after night and not lose your voice during the tour?
Not so revolutionary
Devore - Maybe the show was called Projekt Revolution, but the performances were mostly status quo. The tour, which spun into the Hyundai Pavilion at Glen Helen on Saturday, was fairly tight. The bands most of which hail from Southern California did little to disappoint. Then again, with the possible exception of Korn, nobody put on a terribly memorable show, either. The tour is aimed squarely at the teens and twentysomethings who have grown up with multiple musical loyalties - fans wanting sides of hip-hop with their rock. It worked well most of the time but had its phony moments.
Linkin Park didn't lay an egg per se; its concerts pretty well guarantee a good time. But this time out, the band didn't do much different from numerous times before.
The only exception is the emergence of the band's founder, Mike Shinoda, as its clear star. Previously, his raps held the backseat to singer Chester Bennington's wailing lead vocals. On this night, Shinoda took guitars and keyboards. His raps, especially on "In the End" were sharper and more forceful than ever.

Rockyrock's spinning power!
It was not until his victory in the "Linkin Park DJ Competition" that Rocky felt his substantial existence in America's 'musicdom.' "Aside from winning the competition, I got voted in Linkin Park's website that's why I was able to go to Mexico and open for Linkin Park, Static X, and Korn," he shares. Asked if he noticed even the slightest feeling of discrimination in the band for being Asian, Rocky was quick to aver. "Everybody in Linkin was good to me especially DJ, Joseph Hahn, with whom I became good friends. The band members are not racists, at all; music is their main concern and they welcome fresh ideas," praises Rocky.

Few arrests at Projekt Revolution show
East Troy - Smaller crowds meant a smaller number of arrests made at Friday's Projekt Revolution concert at Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy. Only two concertgoers didn't see the whole show, headlined by rapper Snoop Dogg, rap-rockers Linkin Park and metal band Korn, because they were jailed for misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct while armed. Walworth County sheriff's deputies ticketed 45 people for underage drinking, 17 for speeding, 15 for possession of marijuana, and one each for obstruction, theft, disorderly conduct and making an illegal U-turn. Walworth County Sheriff's Department Capt. Scott McClory, head of security at Alpine Valley, wouldn't have called the crowd tame, but said the number of arrest was about what he expected for a show with about 15,000 spectators. A sold-out show at Alpine Valley usually has about 35,000 spectators, McClory said.

The 2004 Projekt Revolution has ended. Linkin Park will next head to Sao Paulo, Brazil for the Chimera Music Festival on September 11 where they will play in front of their Brazilian fans for the first time and that will be their last concert for the Meteora album. After that the guys will take a long deserved break to rest, to be with their families (in Chester's case probably to change diapers lol!), to go on vacation, whatever, and then start writing a new album.

Laura reports that Linkin Park was on Brazilian TV last night in a show called Fantastico, they were being interviewed from New Mexico, Albuquerque, all members were there and here's an excerpt transcribed by Laura. Update: Laura said the Fantastico show is actually on a US cable channel called 'Globo'
Question: Do you know other band from Brazil other than Sepultura? or you only know Sepultura?
(The guys keep thinking and Mike starts to laugh)
Mike: I think it's just Sepultura, that's all I know (laughs)
Chester: Blanka, from the video game "Street Fighter"
(the guys joke around through out the interview rather than answering the questions)
Brad: I also think that the people relate to the emotion in the lyrics, even though they don't understand the language, it has the honesty and the sincerity that they understand.
(Chester thinks for a couple of seconds)
Chester: I don't know, I don't have the answer. It's a mystery. I convoke scientists all over the world to unravel this mystery. Stonehenge and my voice are the two bigger mysteries of mankind.
