Mike talked about how important it is for Linkin Park to make other bands feel welcome at Projekt Revolution. Download here

"We've been on a lot of festival tours. We've been on a lot of tours with a lot of different acts over the years, and some of my favorite experiences were when we'd show up on the first day of the tour and -- I've had this experience where the singer, we're playing the first of five, and the singer from the headliner shows up completely unnecessarily and unannounced and we're just there setting up our stuff for soundcheck -- they go by and they say hello to everybody and 'Welcome to the tour.'"

Shinoda doesn't forget those tour headliners who helped Linkin Park feel comfortable through the years. "When that happened... The first time that happened to me -- I have to shout him out to because it's Coby from Papa Roach that did it. We were opening up their tour, we were nobody, and he came around, he and Dave (Buckner) came around and said hi to everybody and 'We really want you to have a good show, so if there's anything you need you just let us know.' How amazing is that?! And then five years later Metallica did the same thing. OK, if Metallica is doing it, come on. It's something that's... That's the right way to handle it, and I think it pays off in the end for the fans."

Rob talked about choosing the bands for Projekt Revolution tour, download here

"For all the tours we basically throw together a wish list for all the bands that we would like to tour with. For most of our tours, Chester and I are on the tour committee in the band. We have different committees for everything that we do. Because we're on the tour committee we're very involved in putting together Projekt Revolution and all the tours that we do around the world. Usually we start off by getting a list of all the available bands and we just check off the ones that we just love to tour with. We have no limitations on our wishes, we just kind of put them all down and hope that we get as many as we can. This years Projekt Revolution came together great. We went back to the rest of the band and everyone was just so excited to see the bands that were available and the bands that we were able to lock down for the tour. So far and we're only three shows in, but it's been really positive and there's a great vibe on the tour and everyone's really getting along well and having a good time and that's what it's all about."

Linkin Park Get Destroyed and Inspired by Pearl Jam
posted by Jas, 07/31/07
Brad talked about how Linkin park can still grow after watching Pearl Jam.

Despite having the biggest-selling first week of 2007 thus far with 'Minutes to Midnight,' Linkin Park are not the type of band to let success go to their head. So, it's with humility that LP guitarist Brad Delson tells PopEater backstage at the L.A.'s Projekt Revolution tour that he and his bandmates have found something like relief. "I can finally say with some confidence that having 'Minutes to Midnight' come out and be so well-received, that I really see us now as a career band."

Still, Delson says Linkin recently learned in Europe that they're certainly still evolving -- a lesson taught to them by rock veterans Pearl Jam. "I was really blown away by what they do on stage -- how organic their show is," Delson says. "We played [with them in] Lisbon, and we were kind of high on ourselves a little bit. Then I stood on the side of the stage, watched Pearl Jam perform, and was immediately very humbled. They seriously destroyed us. I say that in the best way possible. It was like, 'Holy crap, there's so much room for us still to grow.'"

Linkin Park are taking another page from their forebears Pearl Jam by releasing complete live recordings of each of their shows following the event. "It means we can't suck," Delson jokes. "The stuff's gonna go up on YouTube anyway, so we might as well do a real mix of it for fan rather than it have be [recorded by] some dude jumping up and down with a cell phone."

Linkin Park Art For Sale On Tour
posted by Jas, 07/31/07
Some of the artwork by Linkin Park and other PR tour bands will be on sale on the tour, proceeds will go to Music For Relief.

The members of rock group Linkin Park are showing off their artistic skills in a new recycled picture book. Frontman Chester Bennington and bandmates Mike Shinoda and Joseph Hahn have each contributed artwork to limited-edition, 50-page book Revolution Unseen: The Hidden Art of Projekt Revolution, which is being made available to fans on the group's Projekt Revolution tour.

My Chemical Romance stars Gerard Way and Ray Toro have also contributed to the book. Bennington reveals he and his bandmates only agreed to make the book available after working out the costs to the environment. He says, "All of our records, any paper product is all printed on this new material that is actually, it's like super-recycled. Even our inks are environmentally friendly, like, everything we do, we're trying to focus on polluting as little as possible." Proceeds from the book will go to Music For Relief, to benefit disaster relief.

PR Tour Review: Auburn, WA

A review of the Projekt Revolution show in Auburn, WA from Settle PI

Headliner Linkin Park had the difficult task of following MCR. A further complication is that the band's new album, "Minutes to Midnight," is seen by many as a departure from its rap-rock roots -- and it is. The bulk of the set was culled from the new album but included nu-metal tunes "Papercuts," "One Step Closer" and "Points of Authority," all from Linkin Park's hot-selling 2000 debut "Hybrid Theory," as well as "Somewhere I Belong," "Breaking the Habit" and "Don't Stay" from their album "Meteora."The festival may have been more project than revolution and more rock than rap, but Linkin Park did do one for the environment by using biodiesel buses as well as donating a dollar from each ticket to American Forests for the group's Global ReLeaf program. I really dislike Linkin Park and haven't really listened to Jay-Z all that much; what can I say besides West Coast Boyyyy! This particular mash-up however, had me at hello. Something about the blending of the 2 genres here melds into one perfectly formed whole. I really thought when I first heard it that it would get old after a while, but it hasn't.

Linkin Park launches fourth Projekt Revolution
posted by Jas, 07/25/07
Chester talked to Launch Radio Network about this year's PR Tour which kicks off today at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington

Chester Bennington told Launch that the band always had high ambitions for the tour, even if it was tough to get acts to sign up in the early days. "Projekt Revolution, we've always wanted to grow it over the years and, you know, in the beginning it was difficult because we were a fresh band, you know, we hadn't earned the respect of our peers, so to speak, so it was a little more difficult to get bands to tour with us. But this Projekt Revolution was surprisingly easy to put together. The idea was that we wanted to basically put the best touring festival of the summer together and make it a no-brainer. And I think that we've accomplished that."

Bleed It Out video description
posted by Jas, 07/22/07
Atigah reports that Alex Pardee who is a friend of Mr. Hahn visited the Bleed It Out video shoot and he has posted what he saw on his blog and there's a picture too.

"I got to go check out my friend Mr. Hahn's new video shoot for Linkin Park last week. He directed a ridiculously crazy fight scene in a bar that is made up of 100 people, or 8 people, or 8 people that are computer-composited to look like 100 different people, or maybe everyone was holograms. I dont know. I was told to wear special glasses to protect my eyes the entire time, but perhaps those special glasses protected me from seeing holographic people doing karate in reverse. Either way, the video is going to look insane, and Hahn used a huge Milo crane (i think they called it that because it was invented for that Milo n Otis movie with the fiesty dog and the stuck up cat). The camera was a gigantic robot that ran by itself along a track, and they also referred to as the Genesis, which i thought was odd for something so state of the art, as it was surely more powerful than 16 bits. Either way, heres a blurry picture of the band in front of a giant green screen so Mr Hahn can composite BADASS MOUNTAINS or something so it looks like the band is FLOATING ABOVE MOUNTAINS!!! ummm....he's not doing that. but he should."

Linkin Park will kick off its fourth Projekt Revolution tour in just under two weeks, on July 25 in Seattle. As the headliners, Linkin Park is entitled to the best sound, the most production and the longest set time, but singer Chester Bennington said that he wants all the acts on the bill to shine equally. "You know, we're really focusing on just allowing all the other bands to really put on whatever show they want to put on," he said. "You know, there's no restrictions on any of the groups, and, you know, we're just focusing on going out and doing what we do. And I feel that if everyone on the tour has the freedom to shine at their best and there's no limitations, then the fans will walk away completely satisfied."

Live Earth reviews
posted by Jas, 07/09/07
Some reviews of the Live Earth concert from various sources.

10:38: Whoa, Tokyo is unbelievably amped for Linkin Park! After the past two and a half hours, it's almost a shock to see a stadium-rock crowd acting like a stadium-rock crowd. I like Linkin Park's emo makeover. -- Village Voice

Quotes from Live Earth: "I don't have any delusions of grandeur that Linkin Park is saving the world. But it's our goal to do what we can to make it possible for our kids to have a place to live, and, at the same time, hopefully clean up where we live in the process." Linkin Park bassist David 'Phoenix' Farrell. The band headlined the Tokyo leg of the Live Earth concerts. -- Star Pulse

The Tokyo concert segued from the gentle folk of Japanese pop star Cocco, who tearfully sang about manatees threatened by a military base on her home island of Okinawa, to the American rap-metal group Linkin Park, who urged the crowd to "get rowdy." If Gore was being characteristically hyperbolic when he claimed the concerts could reach up to 2 billion people on the Internet — sure, and so could this story — the sheer size and spread of the events meant that for a day at least, climate change (or, the rock concerts it has prompted) dominated headlines across the world. But would the Earth have been better off if we all stayed home and did nothing, literally? "That's a fair thought," Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson told TIME before his band's Tokyo show. "It's also a cynical one." He's right. It's time to get past the obsession over carbon footprint size and offsets, over who's an eco-hypocrite and who is truly green. We need to use energy far more wisely, both individually and internationally, but with hundreds of millions in the developing world getting richer and producing more carbon every day, the threat of climate change is far, far bigger than our personal conservation habits. It will require technological change and painful political choices such as carbon taxes, gas taxes and mandatory greenhouse gas emissions caps. That means, especially for the young, the un-rock star act of voting. -- TIME

At last a summer blockbuster worth seeing again and again, Transformers is more than meets the eye indeed! went to see the movie last night and it was awesome!! What I've Done was played twice in the movie, once in the first half hour or so when Shia Labeouf's character gives the girl a ride home, although very soft, I was disappointed at first because I thought that was it but the song was played again towards the end of the movie and during the end credit.
