Chester says new album chart success is "unbelievable"
posted by Jas, 05/26/07
Chester has commented on the chart success of Minutes To Midnight

Singer Chester Bennington told Launch that while he had high hopes for the album, he didn't expect the sales to be that massive. "I know that we're all extremely proud of this record, and we hoped that it would do well and I was thinking big and I was like, 'If we sell 250,000 copies of this thing in the first week, like, I'll be super happy,'" he said. "But six hundred and twentysomething thousand in the first week is just unbelievable, especially nowadays, you know. That just doesn't happen anymore. So, you know, I can't express it enough, but we have the best fans in the world, hands down."

Linkin Park's last full-length studio effort, 2003's "Meteora", also entered in the top spot with sales of 810,000 copies. The state of the music industry has changed a lot since "Meteora" came out, but guitarist Brad Delson told Launch recently that Linkin Park wasn't worried about matching its previous sales figures. "I almost think it's less pressure because sales are so much smaller than what they were," he said. "Everyone's expectations in terms of sales are a lot different than what they were, so from that perspective, it's probably less pressure. For us, the emphasis first and foremost is on making great music that's challenging and exciting to us, and hopefully to our fans."

Video Download: Mike on challenging album

Mike talks to Artisan News about the challenge of making Minutes To Midnight, download video here

Linkin Park wanted to challenge themselves and the fans with the release of Minutes To Midnight last week, and the fans have responded making it the Number One debut on the Billboard 200 album chart. The band sold in excess of 625,000 copies, dwarfing the Number Two album this week, the debut of Tank's Sex, Love & Pain, by almost 500,000 according to chart magazine, Hits

So far, it looks like the fans have responded to the challenge of a different style from the band, and vocalist/multi instrumentalist Mike Shinoda explained Minutes To Midnight was their cure for musical boredom.

"When we started writing the music, it just did not feel inspired. It felt boring. It felt like we were just rehashing old ideas, and we were not ready to do that. We closed the chapter on it and did something that we felt was not only challenging creatively, lyrically, musically, all those things but it's also going to be a challenge for the fans to say, 'What do you think about this?' This is not only different for us, but it's different for a lot of bands. It's the kind of album I don't hear very often because from song to song everything is very, very different."

Linkin Park slays the competition on the Billboard Chart
posted by Jas, 05/24/07
Brad talks to Access Hollywood about the MTM album sales and due to the huge number, Warner Bros. Records claims the #1 spot in overall market share for 2007

"We heard that the biggest record of the year was Norah Jones," said Delson. "Her first week she did like 418,000 records, which in this environment is huge. So to have eclipsed that, like by a significant margin, it was shocking to us. We never expected that and it's just a tremendous, tremendous feeling." It's been four years since the band's last release, and it was a relief to Delson that they received such a big reception after being away for a while.

"We haven't put out a record in a long time, and in a lot of cases artists' fans might lose attention or anticipation. In our case, miraculously, it seemed to have been the opposite -- because we were away and because of the anticipation about the album we were working on, it seems like interest in the band has never been higher." Delson revealed that the band is hard at work readying for a month-long stint in Europe headlining shows and festivals, and then they'll return to the U.S. for the Projekt Revolution tour with My Chemical Romance, Placebo, and others.

Linkin Park on Top of the Charts
posted by Jas, 05/23/07
It's official, "Minutes To Midnight" debuts at #1 with highest first week sales of the year, 622,000 (Billboard says 623K) copies to be exact, ka ching!! Read Brad's thank you message.

Multi-platinum Grammy award-winning Linkin Park returns to the top of the charts this week with their third studio release, "Minutes To Midnight" (Warner Bros. / Machine Shop Records). Landing at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 chart with sales of 622K, this marks the highest first-week sales of the year.

"Minutes To Midnight" has shipped over 2.7 million worldwide. One week after its international release, the album has debuted #1 in the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Norway, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Philippines, Italy, Sweden, Austria, and Ireland and is certified platinum in Australia, Canada, Indonesia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Austria, Switzerland, and France. It has also been certified gold in the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand and the UK.

"We're shocked and humbled by this extraordinary show of support. We invested ourselves entirely into the creation of this album, with the hope that this music would resonate with our fans as deeply as it does with us. We couldn't be more excited about today's news," said guitarist, Brad Delson.

"Minutes To Midnight" is led by the single "What I've Done" and continues to top the Active Rock, Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock radio charts. The video, directed by DJ Joe Hahn, peaked at #1 on MTV's "TRL" and is in heavy rotation on both MTV and Fuse. Quoted in USA Today, Joe Levy of Rolling Stone stated, "Their fan base is going to be psyched. They're going to hear that the essence of the band is there, but there's something fresh and dynamic and exciting happening. They have every reason to be excited by this record." James Montgomery of MTV said, "...it's the best thing Linkin Park have ever done."

Linkin Park has added two more dates to their already confirmed Projekt Revolution tour: the tour opener July 25th in Seattle, WA at the White River Amphitheatre and July 31st in San Diego, CA at the Coors Amphitheatre. Another quick update before I head over to the other site, MTV has a report on Linkin Park's concert at the KROQ Weenie Roast last night, sorry guys I forgot ack!! I've collected some pics, will post them later, in the meantime Hahninator has the mp3 up for download here. Update: Jnudda has the video up for download here. Update II: Marco has the individual track up for download here

Closing out the evening were locals Linkin Park. "We ... grew up listening to KROQ, and I remember coming here last year just as a fan of the show and walking around seeing the different bands," guitarist Brad Delson said backstage, "so not only to be playing it this year but to be headlining is a huge honor." As the band kicked things off with "One Step Closer," the crowd showed it still had plenty energy left to cheer, sing and mosh to the most anticipated act of the day's bill. Fans hadn't forgotten any of the old songs, singing along during "Numb" and "Somewhere I Belong," among others, but they showed the same amount of enthusiasm for new tracks off the just-released Minutes to Midnight. Full report

Update III: Another report from OC Register

The rest of the evening slowly petered out, though surely that was just my perspective; Korn and Linkin Park clearly thrilled the masses who had waited around mostly for their hits-stuffed performances. As for Linkin Park, well, its new album ("Minutes to Midnight") may be a confused dog, but the L.A. outfit's performance here wasn't anything to scoff at. Slotting the best of the new material (the handclapping "Given Up") alongside propulsive versions of past glories, the band seems beyond prepped for its coming Projekt Revolution Tour, with seething singer Chester Bennington in particularly vengeful form. My interest waned fast, but that's perhaps because what preceded Linkin Park was so superior. That both that band and Korn turned in sets that rewarded sustained attention, however, is just more proof that what might easily have been a burned-out Weenie Roast was instead one of the heartiest helpings in years.

Dave Navarro Leads Salute to "Dimebag" Darrell
posted by Jas, 05/20/07
A report on the "Dimebag" Darrell tribute concert at the House of Blues last night. Chester, together with Dave Navarro, Chris Chaney and Stephen Perkins, performed a 3-song jam of Jane's Addiction's 'Mountain Song,' AC/DC's 'Highway to Hell' and Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love.' Photos will be posted later.

To celebrate late Pantera/Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott's induction into Hollywood's Rock Walk, a few of his friends gathered for an all out rock show. Among the night's performances at the House of Blues were Linkin Park's Chester Bennington fronting ex-Jane's Addiction members Dave Navarro, Chris Chaney and Stephen Perkins, teamed for a 3-song jam of Jane's 'Mountain Song,' AC/DC's 'Highway to Hell' and Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love.' Before the show, Navarro told Spinner he's become a true fan of Bennington since the two played together at a Camp Freddy show. "He's a f***ing incredible vocalist. He's the real deal," Navarro says. "I performed with Chester and saw what a true talent he is. I went home that night and downloaded off iTunes because I wanted to hear his voice. Frankly, it was close to the same feeling I had when Steven Tyler joined us -- where you're just like, 'Holy s**t, this guy is unbelievable.'" Full report

Speaking of the new album, Mr. Hahn told Launch radio that, "We ended up with 150 tracks to choose from, and a lot of it wasn't that greatest stuff, but it allowed us to discover what the new thing we were gonna do was, and we finally narrowed it down to the 12 that are on the album," he said. "You know, we had a lot of fun doing it. It was a lot of fun working with Rick Rubin. Making this album was different than anything we've ever done before."

Linkin Park Celebrates New Album Release with Fans in Virtual MTV
    posted by Jas, 05/15/07
Press release about Linkin Park appearance on vMTV on Wednesday, May 16 at 5:00pm. Fans will be able to stream the full album plus chat with the band. Be sure to sign up to vMTV today for your chance to take part in this special Virtual Album Listening Party!

Linkin Park's long-awaited third album "Minutes to Midnight" hits store shelves today, and tomorrow members of the band will host a virtual party within Virtual MTV (vMTV) to meet with their fans and discuss their latest project. Vocalist Chester Bennington and other band members will make special appearances at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday, May 16th in vMTV's virtual version of Club Hyde, the trendy Hollywood Hills hotspot.

To join the party, fans simply need to go to http://www.vMTV.com, download the free application, create their own stylized avatar and head over to the club to meet Bennington. vMTV from MTV Networks' Music Group is a collection of popular virtual worlds that bridge the gap between television programming and emerging virtual world space. With Virtual Laguna Beach, Virtual Hills and now Virtual Pimp My Ride, viewers can instantly transport themselves to the sun-kissed beaches of Laguna Beach, crash the hot party scene in the Hollywood Hills or visit the hotbed of car culture in Van Nuys, Calif. to "live" the lifestyle they see on- air, hang out with their favorite cast members, meet their favorite artists or simply recreate their own drama in-world.

Bennington will be represented in vMTV by a specially created avatar, allowing him to interact one-on-one with their fans around the world in an environment that replicates one of the hottest scenes in Hollywood, and will be joined by another band member in-world. The approach in vMTV represents just one of the new ways forward-thinking bands like Linkin Park are connecting with their fans.

    Minutes To Midnight review
    posted by Jas, 05/13/07
A review of Minutes To Midnight from the New York Times

By contrast, "In Between" is a pleasant surprise: Mr. Shinoda does a more-than-passable impression of a lovelorn emo singer. And "Shadow of the Day" is a handsome, radio-friendly ballad that keeps threatening to morph into U2's "With or Without You." Two eras may be over, but this band seems nostalgic for only one of them. Full review

and a preview from Houston Chronicle: The whole rap-rock thing pretty much died and decomposed. But if one band could advance the rotten form into something meaningful, it's Linkin Park, which never really fit that tag, anyway. That Rick Rubin produced the new Minutes to Midnight is in its favor. In stores Tuesday.

    Minutes To Midnight review
    posted by Jas, 05/13/07
A review of Minutes To Midnight from Philadephia Inquirer who gave it 3 stars out of 5.

No sooner does nu-metal find its ragged soul and experimental punch in Linkin Park (Meteora was riveting; its Collision Course collaboration with Jay Z better still) than the L.A. band dispenses with its signature rap-rawk. Dag - and me with a closet full of recently purchased baggy shorts.

With just enough humpty-hump to hold hip-hop heads in thrall, Park's Mike Shinoda (emboldened by his atmospheric Fort Minor project) and the ubiquitous Rick Rubin turn Linkin into moody punks with a visceral kick, some oddly classic-rock hooks, and soft, contagious melodies dolled up with esoteric noisemakers. That Linkin's careening sound is stripped to the waist gives Shinoda's wordy rapping flow on "Bleed It Out" more oomph and his vocals ("In Between") room to ruminate. But never forget the unforeseen possibilities of singer Chester Bennington. While "Leave Out All the Rest" leans toward balladeering electronica and "The Little Things Give You Away" swoons through acoustic guitars, the scuffed yet silken Bennington gets more chances to rock out with his schlock out ("Given Up") than ever. And when Bennington and Shinoda go at the war song of "Hands Held High" with a taut rap and a croon, Linkin Park sound brutal and beautiful.

Linkin Park live incites fans and keeps Jay-Z in the house
    posted by Jas, 05/13/07
AOL has a review and pics of Linkin Park's concert at the Webster Hall on Friday. Jay-Z was in the house and stayed for the entire concert. Don't forget you can catch live streaming of this concert on Much Music AXS and AOL on May 14 at 9:30 pm ET. It will also be shown on the big screen in selected theatres near you.

Linkin Park is for serious. These L.A. boys brought their A-game to New York City's Webster Hall, with a power set list and enough energy to give Red Bull a run for their money. Jay-Z was in the house supporting his former collaboration partners in this exclusive show. He stayed for the entire set, which says a lot about how the busy power mogul feels about LP.

At one point in the set, Chester Bennington threw up the diamond sign and said, "Give it up for the HOVA! I know you're in here somewhere." The crowd began chanting "Jay-Z" repeatedly and the Jigga himself threw up the diamond sign in response. Chester responded, "I'm still waiting for my chain, dude." This was the first show in promotion for their new album 'Minutes to Midnight.' If you weren't there in person, you can pretend you were after checking out our footage of the full Linkin Park Live concert. Can't wait? Here's the setlist. Don't say we never gave you anything. *wink*

Setlist: One Step Closer, Lying From You, Somewhere I Belong, No More Sorrow, Given Up, Papercut, Don't Stay, From The Inside, Numb, Pushing Me Away, Breaking The Habit, What I've Done, Crawling. (Encore) In The End, Bleed It Out, Faint

I don't have time to write a review but this album rocks!! I don't have a problem with the change and the new sound, I'm a fan of music in general, not just one type so it's easy for me to enjoy this album, heck, even if they have an opera sound I would still love it LOL!! Tips to those who don't like it, give it a multiple listen, I know it's different, it's difficult to digest the first time, it needs getting used to, be patient, the songs will grow on you and trust me, once you see the band in upcoming concerts and hear some of the songs live, you'll be glad that you bought the album. I do have some complaints but it doesn't matter, MTM may not be the best LP album but it is still really good!

The concert will be shown in selected movie theatres around the country on May 14th, as well as on AOL Music the same night. Trailers for the concert have already popped up in theatres and guitarist Brad Delson told us he was in the audience for one: "I was seeing a movie recently in New York and I saw a trailer in the theatre for the Minutes to Midnight concert and I was very excited about it. And of course, like, no one around me, like, one, would ever notice me, but then two, even with, like, there's me, like, up on the screen, but yeah. Never." Friday's show will mark only the second time that the band has played new songs from its upcoming Minutes to Midnight album live.

Linkin Park fans who have missed some or all of the "webisodes" that the band has posted at its YouTube "LPTV" channel won't have to stay disappointed. The segments will be available as part of selected digital versions of the band's upcoming album, Minutes to Midnight, and guitarist Brad Delson told us they'll be extended as well: "People have said, 'Oh, they're so short, I wish they were longer.' Actually there are longer versions available and you can purchase them for download on iTunes. There's actually a version of Minutes to Midnight that comes with all, I think, 15 or 16 'LPTV' webisodes."

    Minutes To Midnight reviews
    posted by Jas, 05/10/07
NY Mag has their own thoughts on Minutes To Midnight as well as a review from someone who loves it and hates it. And The Guardian has a brief review of the album, giving it 3 stars out of 5 which is good.

Linkin Park consider their third album to be such a departure from their nu-metal core values that the CD booklet explains each track's conception. For example, the pop-metal moanfest What I've Done "is intended to work on many levels, including freedom, art and death metaphors", which shows the breadth of their ambition. But even with rock's Mr Fix-It, Rick Rubin, on production detail, and a willingness to try random new things, the California rap-rockers are stymied by their decision to stay roughly within the shrieky boundaries of their genre (albeit with less emphasis on the rap). This opens up new opportunities for rapper Mike Shinoda as a gruff, bellicose singer, but the sound still pivots on the interplay of walloping guitar chords and self-flagellating lyrics.

Another video clip of an interview with Mike from Artisan News via Ultimate Guitar. Mike talks about the new album saying that it was the band who changed the music not Rick Rubin. Download here

"I don't agree with that. I go on the message board. You go ask anybody on the Linkin Park message boards, they know I'm on there and they know the band is watching. The band goes on occasionally we've always been very active with the fans and we stay that way. We know what people are saying out there, and I have to say: Number One - we call them the vocal minority. There are a smaller number of people who are very vocal, and then there's a lot of people who sit there and they do their own thing."

"Yeah, as we were writing the record we knew going into it that this would be a challenge for people. This is not the same kind of record. If you're expecting Hybrid Theory Part 3, I'm sorry. You're going to have to buy another copy of Hybrid Theory or some other band that's trying to do that style because we're not going to do it for ya."

Linkin Park announce Projekt Revolution 2007 line up
    posted by Jas, 05/07/07
Linkin Park confirmed today the fourth installment of Projekt Revolution beginning July 25th and culminating on September 3 in Denver at the Coors Amphitheatre. Fans can expect to see Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, HIM, Placebo and Julien-K on the Main Stage and Mindless Self Indulgence, Saosin, The Bled, Styles of Beyond and Madina Lake on the Revolution Stage. Tickets go on sale nationwide on May 19th. Full press release and tour dates.

Talking to MTV, Chester said, "This is very important tour for us, so we're excited to announce the return of Projekt Revolution," Linkin Park co-frontman Chester Bennington said. "We wanna go out there and kick as much ass as we can, and with the bill we've assembled, the pressure will be on us to prove we deserve to headline it."

My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday will join LP on the tour, which kicks off July 25 in a city to be announced later this month. "We were inspired by tours like Lollapalooza, where you have all these awesome bands playing together," Bennington said. "All the bands are really exciting and they'll bring something diverse to the bill. I can't wait to get out there and bring it every night and destroy everything in our path."

"When [Linkin Park's 2000 debut] Hybrid Theory came out, I had just graduated from art school and was hitting the pavement trying to find a job," Way laughed. "I remember seeing a poster for that album in the Virgin Records in Union Square ... so to be touring with them now is great."

    Minutes To Midnight review
    posted by Jas, 05/07/07
A not so positive review of Minutes to Midnight from Associate Content

The same ingredients are mostly in place- the guitar lines are strong and Bennington's fine vocals are front and center, but the sound has been tweaked until it is only a shadow of the music that sold millions of CDs. Bennington seems to have taken on the mantle of undisputed front man, and Mike Shinoda has been relegated to what amounts to "special guest star" status on a few of the songs. You have to admire Linkin Park for taking a risk by reworking their sound, but change isn't always good, as "Minutes to Midnight" shows. This CD is little more that a place holder on the charts until the real Linkin Park stand up. Full review

    Bamboozle review
    posted by Jas, 05/07/07
    A
review of Linkin Park's performance at the Bamboozle festival yesterday.

Sunday's one standout wasn't an emo band at all, but the rap-rock outfit Linkin Park. A seemingly odd choice of a headliner, Linkin Park not only fit right in (its lyrics are nothing if not emotional), it also trounced the competition. The band put on a grand, highly polis hed show, its first in the United States to support the upcoming album "Minutes to Midnight"(Warner Bros.).

The group concentrated mostly on past successes such as "One Step Closer" and "Lying From You," which alternate between Chester Bennington's anguished singing and Mike Shinoda's workhorse rapping. But Linkin Park also played a trio of new songs, including the militant "No More Sorrow," a speedy rock number called "Given Up" and the moody single "What I've Done." The band's gigantic sound, and Bennington's increasing depth as a singer, made Linkin Park easier to take seriously than in the past.

Not long ago, Linkin Park sounded highly unusual and, truth be told, a bit silly. But its material, bombastic as it may be, has held up surprisingly well. The same may happen to the dozens of emo bands who shared the bill on Sunday -- but at the moment that seems very, very far away.

    posted by Jas, 05/06/07
A review of Linkin Park's concert at the Astoria, London.

With an impending album to plug, a set of new songs could be expected, but the band show restraint, showcasing only three tracks from Minutes to Midnight, including the first single "What I've Done". This is greeted like an old favourite; visitors to the band's website will know it well. "No More Sorrow" also stands out, a lone wail that could have come from Gary Moore's guitar, and a military march on the drums that explodes into an irresistible stomp. Full review

Linkin Park holding Projekt Revolution press conference
    posted by Jas, 05/04/07
Linkin Park will hold a press conference on Monday afternoon, May 7th in New York City to announce the lineup and dates for the Projekt Revolution 2007 tour.

Linkin Park will hold a press conference on Monday afternoon (May 7th) at the Museum of TV and Radio in New York City to announce the lineup and dates for the band's fourth Projekt Revolution tour. Members of some of the other acts slated to appear on the bill will also attend the event. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington told us that headlining any multi-band package makes him feel like he has to play host: "Any time we do a show, I kind of take that idea on, you know. It's our show, we need to not only play great for our fans, but also be respectful and professional with the other bands and their crews, so that word gets around, you know, that when you go out with Linkin Park, it's a great time. It's kind of like, I feel like I'm hosting a party all the time. It can seem tiring sometimes, but it's a lot of fun."

Projekt Revolution will begin on July 25th in Seattle and finish up on September 3rd in Denver. My Chemical Romance is one of the bands expected to participate in the trek. Linkin Park will play a special concert on May 11th at New York's Webster Hall, which will be filmed and then screened in selected movie theatres around the country on May 14th. A complete list of theatres, as well as ticket info, can be found at FathomEvents.com.

    Minutes To Midnight CD/MVI DVD
    posted by Jas, 05/04/07
I was checking Amazon.com for any update and saw that they have another edition of MTM added which is a CD+MVI DVD and I thought what the heck is MVI DVD, then Forbes has article about it that mention this new release

Meanwhile, Warner Music Group touted the imminent launch of its "Music Video Interactive," or MVI, format, essentially an album released on a DVD with related video content, photo galleries and other extra features. The May 15 release of Linkin Park's forthcoming Minutes To Midnight album will be the first Warner release available in the MVI format. But it's hard to see why these formats will do any better than other recent enhanced-disc formats, such as DualDisc and Super Audio CD, neither of which have panned out in a big way. Enhancing their physical product with bonus features isn't the only way for record labels to shore up sales. Another strategy would be to cut prices, something which they're facing mounting pressure to do.

You can pre-order the MTM CD/MVI DVD edition here, the normal CD/DVD special edition is also available for pre-order

    Interview with Mike
    posted by Jas, 05/04/07
Stephen from the Christian Science Monitor wrote in to say that he has written an article about how musicians handle playing with two (or even three) different acts and Mike Shinoda is one of the artists he talked to. Mike also talked about how he wanted the new LP album to return to basics.

"I've always been pretty respectful of Linkin Park," says Mike Shinoda, the rock group's vocalist and guitarist, who also moonlights as the leader of Fort Minor. "I try not to do things that would negatively affect the band because I do consider that my main band." For established artists, today's music landscape has made it easier for artists to split their time between multiple bands. "Thirty years ago, bands would be on the road nonstop," says Shinoda, currently promoting Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight." "The only time you'd run into [other] bands would be when they were out with you, you'd cross paths." Now, he says, one can collaborate by swapping encrypted song files via e-mail.

    Minutes to Midnight (Warner Bros.)
Mike Shinoda: "After I did the Fort Minor record, I felt really refreshed, coming back to the Linkin Park record. It was like I had gone on vacation and did something that was completely different. If you're a musician and you can get back to a state of mind where you leave all that technicality of playing aside for a second and just listen to what you're doing and see if the sound of it moves you ... that's a feeling I was aware of, but hadn't been as in touch with as I was when I was younger. So now, being able to get back to that and make weird sounds that throw the rule book out the window to a certain degree, that feels good. I co-produced the Linkin Park record with Rick [Rubin] and, for my part of the production, I wanted to bring that excitement about the raw musical production back to the band. I was trying to communicate that to the other guys by saying, 'Remember when you first got your guitar, or first played piano, or first did any of these things? Let's get back to that and let's do something that's really pure.' "

    Review of What I've Done
    posted by Jas, 05/04/07
A review of 'What I've Done' from Manchester Evening News

Jumping straight back into the rock juggernaut saddle, Linkin Park return with another catchy, uncomplicated, piano/prog-rock crossover. It's been relieved of some of the shiny, studio sound of their previous singles in favour of letting the guitars do the talking, although the usual ivory chords/drum machine/exhaustive vocalising climactic closing bars remain intact. Altogether a more interesting listen than anything they've done in the last four years. Released on May 7.

Mr. Hahn takes Ningyo to new heights by reviving the golden age of kung-fu flicks with yellow nunchucks, a ripped physique, and fresh battle scars. MSN Artist of the Month
    posted by Jas, 05/02/07
MSN Music is asking who should be their artist of the month this May. Vote for Linkin Park

    Linkin Park
Standard bearers of the rap-rock hybridization that fueled the early years of this young century, the guys of Linkin Park have aged--well, not so much gracefully as forcefully. Perhaps they are older and wiser, but LP is no less angst-ridden, as the new album, "Minutes to Midnight," proves. This will come as good news to the millions upon millions of like-minded disaffectees who've made the band a consistent chart- topper over the past few years.

Linkin new sound isn't stuck in the park
    posted by Jas, 05/01/07
NY Post talk about the upcoming Bamboozle festival and has an interview with Mike who said that 'Minutes to Midnight' is almost a schizophrenic record. There are also previews of MTM from various sources.

Linkin Park, Minutes to Midnight, May 15 – One of the huger bands of the early millennium aims to see if its industrial-strength hit parade can continue. In all honesty, I just want to hear something by them other than "Crawling." Call me crazy. -- CB Music

Not many can dispute the gritty, unique sounds of nu-metal/rock band Linkin Park, but for its latest album, the band has written more mainstream material than ever. "Minutes to Midnight" drops on Tuesday, May 15, and "What I've Done," the album's first single, represents the new sound of the band. It's not as aggressive as their past two studio releases, 2000's "Hybrid Theory" and 2003's "Meteora." Linkin Park is now less nu-metal and more classic, eliminating some of the fast-paced hip-hop lyrics, which were part of its past success. If the single is any indication, the band's latest album will be vocally stronger than its others, yet still more emotionally compelling.

"What I've Done" is so much more complex than anything on "Hyrbid Theory" or 'Meteora," that it really gives the band to a whole, new sound. The band has maintained its rock image, and so far, it sounds incredible, albeit more mainstream. Some of the other songs have been leaked, while others have been released over the Internet. It seems like Linkin Park is dead-set on etching its name into music history with a solid, new sound and a jam-packed new album. -- Daily Orange
