August 21, 2008
LP Underground
Thanks to Joe for the transcript
rubyred says to (17:20): Hey Phoenix, I saw your broken bass at the PR shows, I'm wondering how it broke in the first place?
phoenix says to (17:21): There is one bass that I always play for the song, "Given Up" and it has become a tradition to smash the bass somewhere or other at the end of that song. That's why it looks pretty beat up.
RockerPrince says to (17:21): Before the projekt revolution starts this year, some rumors appeared saying you'll play some old songs in the tour. So, you really have plans to play those songs again? And what about hands held high, valentine's day and in between, we'll hear them again?
phoenix says to (17:23): We never really know what we are going to be playing until right before the tour itself. Any of those songs could definitely make it into the mix.
Rhinestone68 says to (17:22): Hey Phoenix ! thanks to be there for us ;-) What's your best memories of the last tour ? thanks for all you've done again !
phoenix says to (17:26): When we were in Europe in June, we were in Portugual, and it was the largest venue that we played in that cycle and it was a really great experience for all of us.
RachaelLP says to (17:23): Hi! What is the writing process going to be like for the new album compared to Minutes to Midnight and LP's other albums?
phoenix says to (17:25): I think the writing process is going to be a lot of fun on the next record. We are really looking forward writing new music and being creative.
Sleepwalking says to (17:26): Hi Phoenix! The band has spoken favorably about filesharing in the past but in your opinion has it made Linkin Park more easily accessible to the public or rather affected your record sales negatively?
phoenix says to (17:28): I don't really don't think about file sharing that much. Times change. You either adapt or you die.
SPIKE98 says to (17:26): Hey Phoenix! What do you think of Rob's crazy fro?! :D *ily phi phi*
scottdaniels says to (17:26): Hi Phoenix i just wanted to know whats the funniest Prank that you have ever played on somebody before ?
phoenix says to (17:31): Joe and I were bored on tour a long time ago, and we got access to Shinoda's room at a hotel...and we toilet papered and kinda just trashed his room and then I was able to convince Mike that Brad had done it! So, Mike created a plan and played a prank on Brad!
tinkerbella25 says to scottdaniels (17:30): Hi Phoenix, I saw PR 3 times this year and it was amazing!! I know it gets a little boring in between shows and my question is, what do you do during that spare time??
phoenix says to (17:32): Nothing really out of the ordinary. Try to find good places to eat. Museums. Play some golf. Just relax.
tennisjessi says to (17:31): what do you think about extreme sports, would you ever try something like that?
phoenix says to (17:33): I snowboard every now and again.I grew up doing it. But, now on tour it's a lot more difficult to find the time.
darknessovrme says to (17:31): did brad get him back?
Ti_Pat says to DarthYak (17:33): Hey Phoenix, I heard about your thing with Timbaland. How is it going???
phoenix says to (17:36): As far as the Timbaland question goes -- We did a little thing with him at the VMA's last year...but nothing else.
vitalidex says (17:34): How does this year's US Projekt Revolution tour compare with this year's overseas Projekt Revolution tour?
phoenix says to (17:35): Both tours have actually been great. It was very cool to be able to do some PR shows in Europe.
Xam says to NatassaLP (17:36): In your last album the sound is completely different.Easier, slower etc. Were you afraid about how people would accept this change??Do you believe that this change is for good??
phoenix says to (17:37): I was more excited than anything for us to be able to do music that sounded different. And, I think at that point I was hoping that our fans would be able to enjoy the album we were able to create.
zenko says to (17:36): Do u have any side projects that u work on when LP is on break?
phoenix says to (17:38): I have all bass project that consists of 6 bass players. It's the best thing you'll never hear.
zara19 says to Linkin_Park_Fan809 (17:37): Hi Phi, whats your favourite album from this year?
phoenix says to (17:39): Right now it's probably a toss up between Coldplay and Nas.
zuzu says to (17:37): Hi Phoenix. Have u ever thought what will u do if didnt play in LP?? some others jobs??
phoenix says to (17:39): I'd probably be a professional basketball player. Or, an Olympic power lifter.
4Phil says to (17:39): How did you first get to playing the bass? Were there any other instruments you considered playing? btw you should shave Brad's hair when he's sleeping!
phoenix says to (17:41): I played string instruments my whole life. In my first band, we had 3 guitar players so I just decided to switch. Basically, I am a converted guitarist.
_Carol_ says to (17:39): Do you still keep in touch with your old band mates from ?Tasty Snax?
phoenix says to (17:43): Yeah. If you're up to speed on the Snax and LP then you know that Mark Fiore is our videographer for LP. He was our singer/guitarist/ass-kicker/womanizer.
ARTES says to (17:42): Hey Dave. Do you remember the show in year 2000 when/where you rejoined Linkin Park live on their tour? Was there smth special about this show? Any good memories of it? Which city was it in?
Arsalan says to (17:43): How did the concept for MFR come about? and do you guys have any plans to expand it?
phoenix says to (17:45): MFR came from the 6 of us having a common goal of wanting to help victims of natural disasters. Since its conception a couple years ago the organization has continued to grow every year.
analoggirl says to phoenix (17:44): Hey Phoenix, I loved hearing you sing "Plush" backstage at Edgefest! Would you welcome more opportunities to sing on stage or on the upcoming album? Thank you! :)
phoenix says to (17:47): Actually, I do sing a little bit of singing for the song "Hands Held High" and "Little Things Give You Away." And I like it. Singing is fun.
LPrnway says to (17:47): hey Phi! just a random question. do you try local foods at every place you visit and if so, did you like gyros? Greetings from Greece!
badchap35 says to darknessovrme (17:48): Hey Phi what has been your favorite song to play throughout your time with Linkin Park?
phoenix says to (17:48): I don't really have a favorite song. It goes in waves.
DarthYak says to (17:49): Thanks to everyone who's come to the chat tonight. Unfortunately phoenix doesn't have much time and will be leaving soon. We really appreciate him, and everyone else for participating
phoenix says to (17:50): Thanks everybody for your support. Sorry I couldn't answer all of your questions. We are in St. Louis, MO tonight and we've got a big show to go play. Thanks again.
phoenix says to (17:50): I'm out.
