Mike has updated his blog with new response to some of the fans' questions including one about 'New Divide'. Speaking of ND, watched Transformers 2 last night, didn't enjoy much, love the funny moments but got bored and tired of robots doing nothing except fighting each other through out the movie. The only cool thing is hearing snippets of 'New Divide' on some scenes and seeing 'Music by Steve Jablonsky feat. Linkin Park' on the screen made me so proud. Anyway, as expected the movie broke record on its opening day earning a staggering $60.6 million in its first 24-hours and $112 million over the weekend. Revenge of the Fallen's Friday-Sunday performance is the first $100 million weekend winner of the year. Five day gross is estimated to be $201 million, making it the second largest in movie history behind only The Dark Knight, which sped to $203.8 million in the same time frame last summer. I don't think any movie will top that in the coming weeks until Harry Potter 6 opens on July 15.

The world lost two iconic figures today, Farrah Fawcett lost her long battle with cancer and passed away Thursday morning and Michael Jackson died of a cardiac arrest in the afternoon. My prayers and condolence to their fans, friends and families. To most people, 'Thriller', 'Beat It', 'Billie Jean', 'Bad' are their all time favourites but mine will always be 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough', I used to listen to it over and over and over again coz' I just couldn't get it out of my head. It's one of the songs that brings good memories of my teenage years. Rest in peace Michael.
'New Divide' review

BBC Radio 1 has this review of Linkin Park's 'New Divide'.
Chester is once again howling his inner turmoil to an uncaring world from the top of some dark wind-blasted mountain while a storm tries to strike his bones from the surface of the Earth. This is what they do. This is clearly what they have been hired to do, and it suits a great big fighty movie rather well.And the chorus goes to some surprising peaks, melodically, which is always welcome from a band who can occasionally just sit on one note for an entire song and then change the chords underneath. Granted, it's perhaps not as completed a song as it could be, but they're hardly going to use their very best ideas for a Transfomers movie, now are they?

Not so good review of Transformers 2 soundtrack CD
Now, I m going to say something completely radical, and then I am going to move on. I dig Linkin Park's "New Divide". People are saying, "Eh, it's just "What I've Done Part 2". I beg to differ completely. It's extemely remniscent of what made Meteroa such a rousing success, in my opinion. Unlike "What I've Done", which was selected from an already completed album, made part of the OST, and then claimed as a single from the compilation. "New Divide" is written specifically for the soundtracks, and it's decent.
IGN's review of the CD
The playlist opens with the single, "New Divide," from Linkin Park. The track is a likeable heroic anthem, with a solid vocal performance from Chester Bennington. A bit of edge, a bit of emotion; it sounds exactly right to play during the end credits of a Transformers movie.

Linkin Park attended the premiere of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen this evening at the Los Angeles Film Festival held at the Mann Village Theatre, have one shot at the moment (nice hat Mike), more will be posted as and when they come in so check back later. See some set up pics for the after party where Linkin Park will be performing a live short set. Update: More pics added, a fan's recording of the band's performance after the show has surfaced at YouTube, I'm sure more will be uploaded later.

Speaking of Mike, Activision has announced that Mike will play Xbox LIVE Gold members on Friday, June 26th in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. You need to be online half an hour before (3:30 P.M. Blabbermouth reports that Linkin Park's 'New Divide' music video has become the #1 music debut so far this year on MySpace, drawing 1.8 million viewers in its first four days. "It's a tribute to the incredible drawing power of Linkin Park and the impact we can have together. Magic show at Club Tattoo celebration

Apart from the autograph signing and an acoustic performance by Dead By Sunrise, Chester will also take part in a magic show performed by Daredevil Magician Steve Wyrick at the grand opening celebration of Club Tattoo in Las Vegas. The event will take place inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. According to the press release, Chester, assisted by members of Dead by Sunrise, will lock and shackle Wyrick into one of the band's equipment boxes. Connected to a crane by only a few thin ropes, the box will be dangled over a bed of 500 flaming spikes 80 feet below. The ropes will then be set on fire, forcing Wyrick to make his escape before the last rope breaks and sends him plummeting to a fiery death. Wyrick will have to jump 20 feet off a burning box to a safety rope and rappel down while avoiding the spikes and tremendous heat. This type of escape has never been attempted by an illusionist anywhere in the world. Don't miss it! and don't forget, the autograph signing session starts from 2 - 4 pm and the DBS performance will start at 10:30 pm.

Siby reports that Joe and John Hensley will be hosting an art show called "Celeritas". It's a gallery exhibition and art auction featuring a collected body of work from a phenomenal group of artists who have come together to display their talent in an entirely new way -- using motorcycle helmets, motorcycle leathers, and a Suzuki Hyabusa motorcycle as their medium to benefit Riders for Health. The show will feature art pieces from artists like Joe Hahn, Mike Shinoda, Jeff McMillan, Alex Pardee, Estevan Oriol, Dr. Romanelli and more. The show starts on July 12 and ends August 16.

According to LPU, Linkin Park will be performing a short set in the West Los Angeles area on Monday evening, June 22nd at a secret location! and they are giving LPU memebrs in Southern California the chance to attend this special event. For non members I think KROQ are giving away passes to the show. Chester tweets today saying, "we are playing for some MFR winners. They raised 25k for MFR. Pretty amazing. So, I received an email from Johnny today with a link to a new making of 'New Divide' video and it's from the official site so I head over at LinkinPark.com but it's not there, checked LP MySpace , not there either, the video starts with "Congratulations, here's a sneak peak at the Making of New Divide", so went back to LP.com, looked around and saw a slab of stone with a rune symbol on it, I clicked on it and voila! it's a scavenger hunt! hosted by LP.com, find all six symbols and you'll get an exclusive video download and a chance to win movie tickets. So I'm guessing that this new video is what you'll uncover when you completed the task. I'm not sure how long this has been going on, I just found out today and have found only one symbol lol!, not sure if it's only at LP.com or you have to check LPU, MySpace and Music For Relief sites as well to find them. Anyway, if you can't wait, click here to download the new making of New Divide video, but I still think it'll be fun if you try the scavenger hunt, good luck!

From CB.com: Club Tattoo is opening a brand new store in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood's Miracle Mile Shops. The show is set for July 4th and will feature an acoustic set performed by Chester and his friends from Julien-K. The Linkin Park Street Team is wanting to get the word out about the opening of the parlor, so they've set a deal up for some fans.
If you pass out flyers and put up some posters the week before the show in order to effectively get the word out and take pictures in the process, there is a major hookup you have the opportunity to grab. Mike has posted a video of his interview on Last Call with Carson Daly, download here. He also posted an update on how the band write songs for their new Linkin Park CD.
We had a big band meeting this week to get caught up on album progress. With all the New Divide and Transformers stuff going on, we've been distracted for a while :)In our weekly meetings, we listen to each song, give it a grade (A+ to F-), and write notes. The grades get tallied (10 points for an A+, 9 for an A, and so on). The written notes are things like "the music in the first half loses my attention a little bit," or "I like the chorus, but the verse is a little weak." My favorite note from this week: "Sometimes it's nice to have balls." (thank you Dave)
The songs all have working titles like "Robot Boy," "Rygar," and "Underbite." Usually the working titles don't sound anything like the song (the name usually comes before we've written a note). All of those titles are going to change, but we need to name stuff to keep it organized. "Robot Boy" got the highest grade so far, at about an 8.75. "Voyage" got the lowest, with a cumulative 3.5 and notes like "sleepy time." LOL
We listened to about 18 song ideas, and I think we'll have another session to listen to another 10-15 songs in a week or two.

Dead By Sunrise will be performing an acoustic set at the grand opening of Club Tattoo in Las Vegas on July 4. Chester will be hosting the event including the unveiling of his new solo project Dead By Sunrise, in store autograph session starts between 2pm - 4pm and will take place inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. The acoustic performance will start at 11:30 pm and will be broadcast inside the Miracle Mile mall screens and on Las Vegas Blvd.
